Davis Bike Club Newsletter

DBC Newsletter The Davis Bike Club (DBC) is a 400+ member organization.  The club produces a monthly newsletter which it sends to members and makes available to the public in local bike shops.  As with most organizational newsletters, it contains articles on interest to current and prospective members, as well as a calendar of upcoming events.

Editorship of the DBC newsletter is a volunteer position.  The previous editor held the position for a number of years. In respect for his tenure, and in order not to upset the membership, I started from the layout of old issues as a template.  Nevertheless, I thought some organizational changes were necessary to improve the newsletter.  To that end, I took a few simple steps: established a fixed font and size; set up a three-column template; kept monthly features in set positions; edited copy to ensure that every story would fully print on one page; organized ride descriptions into groups based on frequency.  I also moved to have the newsletter printed on recycled paper at a local shop.

In addition to the DBC newsletter, I have edited print and online newsletters for OCSC and Habitat for Humanity. Below is a ink to an edition of the DBC newsletter.
